Save Valley Forge Park
Special Meeting Monday June 23

The Board of Supervisors Special meeting scheduled for Monday, June 23 at 6:00 PM will go forward as planned.

It appears ARC is making an argument that approval of the preliminary plans should not be stayed due to the legal challenge. Therefore, to be safe, the township is planning to move forward with a vote on Monday. However, we still believe that any action is inappropriate and that, in the end, the vote will be invalid, as it was taken when it should not have been.

We need to PACK that auditorium on June 23rd. Please plan to be at that meeting and bring co-workers, friends and family. We need to show them that we are opposed to this by our attendance. Also, consider speaking at this hearing. Even if it is something very short. We need to have it in the newspapers that 150 people got up to speak. This way it gets recorded in the minutes. Past meetings have quoted that 15 people got up to speak. Many more than 15 people are against this.

THIS IS NOT A DONE DEAL!

Some Good News!

We have some good news regarding our battle to Save Valley Forge Park!

On June 11, 2008, the five local residents of Lower Providence Township, along with the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) have filed a new legal challenge against the Zoning changes (Living History Overlay) that were adopted by the Lower Providence Board of Supervisors on September 6, 2007.

Lower Providence Township's Board has scheduled a "special meeting" to be held Monday June 23, 2008, starting at 6:00 PM, at the Arcola Intermediate School, 4000 Eagleville Road, Eagleville, PA 19403. Although their plan is to vote to give both Preliminary and FinalĀ  approval to the construction of ARC's Trailhead building and water and sewer lines, as well as conditional use permits, it appears that this action has been "stayed" by our legal filing.

However, it is likely that our Lower Providence Board of Supervisors may still plan to hold this meeting on June 23rd. Stay tuned to local newspapers and/or the township's web site, www.lowerprovidence.org, for further information.

In addition, we have reorganized Lower Providence Concerned Citizens (LPCC), a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that will assist all of us in addressing issues and projects that impact the residents of Lower Providence Township. More information and an application for membership will be available in the near future. Stay tuned!
